After announcing her novel, she began thinking more about the relationship between Japanese, standard Japanese, and stories.

She made this piece in parallel with her writing. The theme, above all else, is the conflict between the narrative and story itself.

This doll has the appearance of a young girl, yet she has the full belly of a pregnant woman.

The horns of the insects crawling across her body are a metaphor for a phallus-like desire for expression.

Also, her raised right hand, which is her main hand, and her index finger sewn with shining beads represent control and reason.

The white flowers upon her head mean mourning

It’s a piece which simultaneously represents the active and the death of the active.

One which mourns the active while passively conceiving it.

The aspect seems to bear an implication of primitive and personal faith.

She feels that a polyphonic story with no subject or plot is associative with the body.

However, on the other hand, she is burdened by the fact it’s difficult to reach expression without a large story.

She faced that dilemma.
